Key facts & rules
Animal cell components: cell membrane, nucleus, cytoplasm, mitochondria, ribosomes.
Plant cell extra components: cell wall (cellulose), chloroplasts, large permanent vacuole.
Prokaryotic cells (bacteria): no nucleus, no membrane-bound organelles, smaller, circular DNA.
Eukaryotic cells: have a membrane-bound nucleus (animals, plants, fungi).
Mitochondria: site of aerobic respiration (ATP production).
Ribosomes: site of protein synthesis.
Chloroplasts: contain chlorophyll, site of photosynthesis.
Mitosis produces 2 genetically identical diploid daughter cells (growth, repair, asexual reproduction).
